I am the 7-great grandson of Joshua Danforth of Mass., son of Jonathan Danforth. Both are clearly documented to have fought in the American Revolution; however, several family members from the 1800s applied for membership in the Sons of the American Revolution, and cited a journal Joshua kept during the war (from 1780-1781).

The last known existence of the journal which I can prove was in 1895 in Indiana, according to a SAR application.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS JOURNAL? Who has it? Where is it?

I've checked the National Archives and almost every major university library east of the Mississippi. I'm guessing it's still in a family member's hands.
