Trying to locate Coonom, Massachusetts

I am trying to find Coonom, Massachusetts. It is possible that it is spelled wrong or not even located in Massachusetts.

The following is the first paragraph of a type-written (including spelling errors) history of the Griswold family that has been passed down in my wife's family.

"The following is the history of the Griswold Family. Two Griswold brothers came to America before the Revolutionary War. These were; Harry and George Griswold. Harry was a General in the Revolutionary war. A Fort was named ofter him in Coonom, Mass. which is now a State National Park."

Any info, hints or tips will be appreciated. Steve

Why Dorchester instead of Quebec?

Washington had Henry Knox haul the Ticonderoga cannon to Dorchester when Arnold was investing Quebec and badly in need of cannon. Does Washington anywhere explain that decision? Did reporting from the Congressional study committee that went through up-state New York and visited Montreal have anything to do with the decision?

Thanks

MSSRW vs Pension Records

I'm finding some slight discrepancies between MSSRW and the Pension/Bounty-land Claims. I'm guessing either some data went lost or became illegible by the time MSSRW was compiled or that old soldiers and/or their widows' memories were fuzzy when they put in their claims--perhaps a little of both; Any insights out there?

MSSRW vs Lineage Seies & Heitman's Register

OK...here I go again; Joseph Read of Uxbridge was promoted to Colonel during the siege of Boston. MSSRW suggests his Regiment was the 20th throughout the period of the siege. But Knight's lineage series & Heitman's Register both call it the 13th Continental Regiment. FWIW, Read's Rgt was "adopted" into the Continental Army on 14 June 1775 so I'm tempted to call it the 20th Mass pre-14 June and 13th Continental afterward.BUT, a General Return of the Main Army dated 19 July 1775 (reproduced in Knight's book) has a completely different regimental numbering scheme (sigh)

Mass. Soldiers & Sailors Rev. War vs. Archive Records

Can anyone tell me if the information contained in the 17 vol. series "Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the War of the Revolution" is the same as that contained in the state archives? In other words, I have found the name of a man I suspect is an ancestor along with some info in the books, would there be more info in a state archives file or is everything in the archives files also found in this book?
I have found what I am sure is my 6th gr-grandfather, Joseph Ford, in Mass. Soldiers and Sailors, but it has no identifying info other than his town. I am wondering if the state archive files will have more info than what is in the book. I know his father and five brothers served.

Order of Battle Information

Is there any good published source that covers order of battle information i.e. subordination of companies to regiments and those regiments to brigades and changes to those subordinations over time and/or for particular battle situations along with info on officers and men. I have used wonderfully detailed published OBs for the Union in the Civil War but a number of library catalogue searches (including LOC) don't identify anything equivalent for the Revolution.
