I didn't find a man with his name in the DAR Index married to the wife's name you have. Do you know where he lived after coming through NY? To find information--some counties and or state archives have info. Not knowing where he lived 20 years after he arrived and the Rev. War began--makes it difficult. There are so many men with same name. The DAR Index has several listed with his name that women submitted for membership but there could be other men with same name not listed with them who served. Hopefully someone will see your msg. that can be of more help. There are books published of families-- also I started with county books and checking the indexes for names. There are many libraries with genealogy depts. and people who help. Using a search engine online to find names sometimes helps. But I knew the state & county they lived in by obtaining death records of relatives going as far back as I could. However death recorda were not required in some states until the late 1880's or later. Same with birth records.
