I have been unable to find it no matter how I spell it.

Thanks.
Jo

NJ RevoWar expert to speak in Dover Del. Monday

On Monday, February 18, the Central Delmarva Revolutionary Round Table welcomes Dr. Jude M. Pfister at Sorrentino’s Restaurant. This is at 518 South Bay Shore Road, Dover (on the west side of 113, where it divides from route 13).

At 6:00 p.m. is a self-treat, optional dinner. Dr. Pfister will speak about 7:00 on History, Myth, Memory, and the Pennsylvania Line. The Continental Army spent the winters of 1776-1777 and 1779-1780 around Morristown, New Jersey. The first mass immunization against smallpox was there in 1777, and the 1779-1780 winter was the severest of the 18th century. These two facts sharply contrast with the almost limitless myths and lore that permeate the Morristown story. Dr. Pfister wrote:

"I am particularly interested in how memory played a part in the development of the Morristown National Historical Park. Morristown was the first historical park in the National Park system and on March 2, 2008, the park will celebrate its 75th anniversary . . . I will provide a brief overview of the two (actually three) encampments and then talk about the problems with folklore in the context of the PA line placement. Early in 2007 we completed work on an extensive archaeological assessment of the PA line area and found that the site was not where the legend had placed it. "

After graduating from Delaware State University with a B.A. in History (1991), Jude earned his M.A. from Washington College (1993) and his Ph.D. from Drew University (2007). He has worked as a curator and historian for the National Park Service since 1993. He currently is Chief of Cultural Resources at the Morristown National Historical Park where he oversees the museum, library, and archival programs.

Thanks to Dr. Jack Gardner for the above description. If readers can come to Dover earlier, and want to research at the Del. Archives, I could meet you there.

We are hoping that someone has access to the Middlesex County, New Jersey Militia records.

We have a newspaper article about Richard Livings and his family. In this article, it said that Richard Livings served as a private in the Middlesex County, New Jersey Militia, and these are records which indicate that he died in the service of his adopted county.

Richard Livings, was born about 1750, in England and he married Rachael (?), there. About 1770,, they came to America, bringing their sons, Joseph, Richard, Johnthan. Another son Daniel was born in New Jersey.

We are hoping, that someone can find Richard Livings listed in the New Jersey Militia.

Thank you,

Seeking George Allen, a wagonmaster who was captain and conductor of a team brigade under James Thompson, Wagonmaster General in the New Jersey Militia. The team brigades hauled cannon balls and supplies for troops in the Rev. War. My ancestor, William Roark, said that an uncle had "got him off from further service" as a soldier to work as a teamster. I'm trying to find out if George Allen was that uncle. Any help or clues appreciated.

MARTIN, David, 1766-1808

David was born in Rahway, Middlesex Co, NJ, son of Wm Marsh Martin and Sarah Moore, he died 18 Nov 1808 in Rahway / Piscataway, Middlesex Co, NJ. I am looking for help to confirm David's Continental Army service. I have old family notes that say he was a private in Capt. John Shether's Troop of Col Elisha Sheldon's 2nd Regiment of Light Dragoons CT Line, and enlisted 5 Jan 1777. He may have also served with the 8th Regiment, CT Line from Colchester Conn on April 1775 in defense of Boston. He may have also enlisted in the 3rd Batallion, 2nd Establishment, 3rd Regiment of the NJ Line, Capt Asher F Randolph's company. I think more than one David Martin was found in the records many years ago and I'm requesting help from DAR volunteers who may be able to shed some light on which soldier David Martin, is my 5x great grandfather.
Thank you for any assistance.

Supposedly Samuel White (March 16, 1758-October 21, 1841) served in the American Revolution at the Battle of Stoney Point on July 16, 1779 in New York.

He was possibly born in New Jersey?
Then he moved onto Farifield, Fairfiled County, Ohio

I did find a Samuel White in the Ancestry database for
"American Revolutionary War Rejected Pensions"
It stated
Samuel WHite
State of OHio
Rejected Reason
Not on the New Jersey rolls-no proof of service- note j must be carried out

I think this is him and his pension was rejected.
Now though how can I find in the records of the Revolutionary War or did he possibly not really serve?

Thanks in advance
Nevada Boslet
:)

Searching for John (Jack) Harper WW2 1943 Mighty Eighth Air force, United States Army

Hello,

My name is Lynn Gardener & Iam looking for my Biological Grandad John (Jack) Harper. He was in Liverpool, Cheshire, England 1943. He met & had a brief affair with my Grandmother Dorothy Harper (no relation). My Grandmother conceived a child through this who was born on the 14th February 1944 (my Dad). The information I have is that John (Jack) Harper was stationed at Burtonwood Airbase, Warrington, Cheshire, England. I think he was one of the Mighty Eighth. I think he was possibly from Westfield, New Jersey, New York. My Grandmother was from Garston Liverpool-England. If there is anyone out there who knows of this man's whereabouts, living or deceased or familiar with any of this story. Please can you contact me. Many thanks.

Rev. War Service Record

I have received the following reference on my ancestor's service in the Revolutionary War from another researcher, but the source of the reference is not known. Does anyone know where it came from? I am trying to document his service as part of an application to the DAR. (He is not listed in their Patriot Index.)

The listing is as follows:

LANCE, CHRISTOPHER
Teamster, Baggage Wagon, two-horse team, Captain Coonrad Gontterman's Company; had service in Pennsylvania under the command of General Forman, in 1777; and a wagon with a four-horse team under orders of Captain Philip Dodders, in service carting baggage and sick men from Amboy to Sussex. (Militia Pay, Morris, Sussex and Bergen Counties, page 14)

I believe the correct name of the captain is Conrad Gutterman. According to the book, Official Register of the Officers and Men of New Jersey in the Revolutionary War, by William S. Stryker, Gutterman's regiment was the 2nd regiment.

The only other information I have on this reference is the following:

WSP:RJH
4-5-32

Any ideas on where this came from??

I am also researching the Pines. Many of them were born in or around Blackwood, NJ. Lazarus Pine was one of the founders of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Blackwood, he was also a Captain in the Revolutionary War, he and many other Pine's are in the Churchyard Cemetery. My Great Grandfather was William Lazarus Pine and His father was Henry S. Pine. I am now in the process of trying to obtain records on Henry. There were many many Pine's in this area and I'm trying to sort them all out. If you would like anymore information email me at emb1237@prodigy.net.
Evelyn
