I saw your note here about Richard Bailey and the shoe buckle from the Revoulton. My father, Charles McCallum often told me that story. His grandmother, Hattie Tuffley Bailey gave it to your grandmother before Hattie's death in 1932. My father described it to me often. Any chance of a photograph of the buckle? I know it would cheer my father. He is 89 now.richard was a major. He had been a leading town council member of Richmond, RI. He was in his late 60s at the time of the battle. This fits the history of that battle. It was one of the first. Each town elected its own officers. Many of the leaders were old men, not fit for war. The battle was a defeat, and the old soldiers returned home. Richard died Nov 21,1780 in Richmond, RI.
