I noticed this post and I too am a descendant of Joshua Odell, who did serve in the revolution with THE LINE - First Regiment, under COLONEL GOOSE VAN SCHAICK and CAPT. DAVID VAN NESS. Joshua is listed in the muster roll as having enlisted 1 April 1776. Along with the service comments "On command as a carter at Ticonderoga." Joshua is also listed with the "Enlisted Men" on pg18 of NEW YORK IN THE REVOLUTION as COLONY AND STATE.
I found his service card on fold3, "Compiled Service Records of Soldiers Who Served in the American Army During the Revolutionary War" and there's another card with a file number on it (35524618).
There is also another descendant named Miss Emma Elizabeth Odell (DAR#32998), of you google her name and that DAR number you'll find volume 33 lineage book going from her back to our Joshua Odell. Although I disagree with the birth date, everything else agrees.
Here are two other descendants that appear in "Sons of the Revolution. New York Society" Yearbooks - Charles Mortimer Odell, Isaac Herbert Odell.
