Classification: Query
Surnames: Stough, Watson, Stough, Kobel
I have a few fairly certain Rev War veteran ancestors, where do I research next to find out some more info? I want to know everything, realistically I know I can't, but I want to fill out the picture as much as possible.
Recognized by the DAR (my index 4th printing June 1973) ...
Jacob Stough b. 1753 d. 1-3-1823 m. Catherine -- Pvt. PA. (I've looked through file in Cumberland Co, PA that has a bunch of correspondance concerning application to DAR)
Joseph Watson b. 1760 d. 1836 m. Christian Ressler (2nd wife, I descend from 1st wife, Anna Maria Coke/Koch?, some
similar sounding name????) Fif (fife?) PA ... maybe either from Lancaster Co, PA or Cumberland (not probably at this period of time) ... possibly even from York Co, PA.
I have a Henry Rheem/Reehm (many spellings), age close, but death date and wife doesn't match one in book. Not certain he was veteran.
An ancestor recognized by the PA Sons of the Revolution is Jacob Koble, born Nov 1755, died 1808, married Margaret Emmerich (numerous spellings). This org., along with some others, placed a "new" stone on Jacob Kobel's grave in the 1930s in Altalaha Lutheran Church in Rehersburg, Berks Co, PA. He is not in the DAR records ... I made a request online through them.
I think that's it for PA. I've checked the PA online card file ... interesting, not much info, various spellings, not verification of sevice. I'm just not certain where I should go next and if there's a map I should follow in my research.
Thank you for any help.
Stephanie
