Wow

If this is the "right" Jozsef Gurnik he was my grandfather, maternal side. The family was from the area around present-day Markusovce, SkR. He never talked about his service time. I know he was a POW and he had a picture of the camp (it looks like a lumberyard on a river to me)in "Russia" (possibly what we would call Ukrainia today?) and several of the group of prisioners he was with. He was missing half of a finger from one hand and a part of one ear (both injuries were on the right side, I think). If they were war wounds he refused to confirm it.

Is there a way to learn more?

Thanks!
