Perhaps you might be of some help, I know it is probably a long shot. My grandfather and his brother both had gone to S. Africa to fight in the Boer War. My Grandfather returned but his brother did not. It is believed he had died there. The family story was that the last time they saw each other was when my Grandfather happened to see him on the platform of the train station as it was pulling away and that was the last he or any of the family had seen or heard of him.
John Collins was born June 10, 1873, enlisted in Cranbrook B.C., on April 26, 1902, with the 5th Regiment of the Canadian Mounted Rifles, Regiment No. 181; went to South Africa to fight in the Boer War. source: Military Documents Attestation Papers (Defaulters Book)I have a copy of his attestation papers.
