The reason I asked if Ancestry have a correction policy is that I am a registered user not a subscriber so although I can create and reply to message boards I don’t have regular access to records and cannot even responding to personal communications from a subscriber (hence I block contact).
As for Findmypast, I have found their policy is somewhat variable where census are concerned and I certainly disagree with them changing text from what is actually shown on a document to what they “prefer” to show e.g. in WO 97 series (soldiers papers) when County stated as Hants replaced with Hampshire, Salop replaced with Shropshire, Lancaster or Lancs replaced with Lancashire, etc., rather than adding the full name in brackets.
Re Punjab Medal Roll
There were certainly problems in trying to download some digitised files when the new “discovery” catalogue system was introduced, but I found reporting the problem was quickly replied to by the NA with a note saying they were aware of the problem AND a new link to enable direct download without using the catalogue purchase system.
Having said that, I’ve found with free downloads like the WO100 piece numbers, that when initially running through the “purchase process” from adding to the basket the file size is shown as 0 MB, but if you continue through to payment confirmation you should find the file size is correctly shown and can be either downloaded from there or via a link sent by email.
If you still have problems give me the piece number(s) you are looking for and I will check it can be obtained as I described above.
