That engagement was in 1676, some 80 years before the French and Indian War.
A brief description of it with some references are in the Wikipedia article here

You may be able to find a 19th-century County History listing who was there and casualties. Personal research in old records of the Massachusetts General Court might turn up a claim for reimbursement for loss of a horse, gun, etc., or list the militiamen engaged there. Perhaps with records research you can find an estate probate record of a family member that closely coincides with the date of the fight, or which even mentions the circumstances of death.
You would need to do specific family research to learn whether a person in your ancestral family was involved in the French and Indian War. Stories such as you mention may have been inspired by mention of a person with the same paternal-line surname as the one you seem to be focusing on. Bear in mind that when you go back 8 generations there are 64 contemporary ancestors, most with different surnames. However, do not assume that 'same surname = same family'.
Without a specific time, place and full name, few could pull some information relevant to your specific family out of a hat.
This message board is about the French and Indian War, roughly 1755-1763, not the 17th century conflicts.
Good hunting,
Jade
