I am seeking more information about what company or companies would have been referred to as "Connecticut Volunteer Riflemen". My ancestor, Amon Canfield, was possibly a captain of one of these companies. I have been told through family tradition that he was on the Battle of the Plains of Abraham and would like to know if there is a listing of companies who participated in that famous battle as well. It appears that many records for specific areas in Connecticut were destroyed which detail the time periods prior to the Revolutionary War. Because of this, I have had some difficulty with verifying this particular history of my ancestor. What resources might be available? Thank you for your help.
