Surnames: McKenzie, Pratt
My 5th g.grandfather, Murdock McKenzie, born abt. 1735 in Scotland, served with the Guides & Pioneers Regiment of the British Army during the American Revolution and removed to Nova Scotia/New Brunswick after the war. Other information found recently indicates there was a Murdock McKenzie who served in the Colonel's Company of the 78th Fraser Highlanders during the Seven Years War, then returned to Scotland with others when the Regiment was discharged in 1763. There is a possibility that after the birth of his daughter, Ann, in abt. 1772, Murdock returned to North America, probably New York, and subsquently joined the Guides & Pioneers Regiment. Any information relating to Murdock and the 78th Fraser Highlanders, or his wife, will be most appreciated. Murdock's daughter, Ann McKenzie, married James Pratt, a veteran of the New Jersey Volunteers in about 1787.
