Hi,
The French Dept. of Defense is 100% useless and non-cooperative! I gave up trying. My Grandfather was seriously wounded and gased a few weeks before WW I ended. He died from the gassing effects in 1930. His life from 1918 to 1930 was a series of long stays in the hospital. Amazing the thousands of Americans who fought and died for France and the French forgot about them! My Grandfater volunteered to fight in WW I when he was 28 years old! The U.S. Army was wonderful when trying to get info! Was able to get copies of the medals he recieved from the U.S. Army very easily! Shame on the French Government and Military! Maybe with the new president things will change? Might try again!
Good luck!
