Surnames: van Emden/d'Emden
I have an ancestor who was a dental surgeon in Napoleon's Army and I am trying to find some record of where he may have served. His name was Hartog van Emden which he changed to Hendryk van Emden, subsequently changing it again to Henri d'Emden. As he was born in 1793 he would have served in one or more of the later campaigns. He eventually moved to England where he was married.
