My ancestor, Thomas Boyers spoke with Count Bertrand when he visited the home of Andrew Jackson, The Hermitage, in 1843. Thomas Boyers inquired of the Count as to whether he had a brother and if the brother had served with General Le Clerc in "San Domingo". The Count confirmed the relation and stated that he hadn't known what had become of his brother. The brother lived in Gallatin, Tennessee til his death. He apparently wished not to see his brother the Count.
