Finding Napoleonic Army records
How can I find out if someone served in Napoleon's Army? His name was Marten Geret Smit born in Ditzum, which was in East Friesland, Netherlands, then. It is now in Germany, about 10 miles from the border. Anyway, Marten was born Aug. 28, 1770 and was married to Jeanne(tte) Moreau, who was born and lived her life also in Holland. Marten supposedly was a captain in Napoleon's Army. Any suggestions would be welcome.
