Would you happen to have any record of a Franz Brinkmann? He was my great grandfather's brother, was born in 1848 and died in 1908. I know he eventually reached the rank of Generalmajor in the Prussian Army, and that he came from the Warburg district of Westphalia (part of Prussia at the time). Aside from that, I know very little about him other than an entry in the 1907 Hof und Staatshandbuch des Königreiches Württemberg which shows him being recalled to service in 1900 (in the section listing "foreign" officers, i.e. from outside Württemberg).
Since he attained the rank of Generalmajor, it is reasonable to surmise that he served with some distinction in the Franco-Prussian war as a young officer, but I have no hard evidence of that.
Anything you have that could add to this would be greatly appreciated.
