Help with German Ancestry/Military Service

Classification: Military
Surnames: SCHULZ
I cannot read/speak/write German and would like to search for a Grandfather-In-Law.

Gustav Wilhelm SCHULZ B:25/08/1915 Flensburg, Schleswig, Holstein, Germany.

I know he was a German Soldier, from memory he told me in communications. Although the photos I had seen were marching besides German tanks.

He was captured and held in an American POW Camp (don't know where) and worked as a cook or the like. One of the American officers cut the top of his ear of in anger one day with his sword.

He and his wife were VERY cautious of talking about anything many many years after as the said; "Walls have ears" They said that one of thier relatives were sent to the Gas chambers by an in-law (a Gestapo officer) and this obviously had a great effect on them.

I am unable to find anything in English and not sure why America especially wouldn't have some list of thier prisoners published by now and I am unable to find an English web site with German Military information :(

Would someone please be kind enough to help?

Cheers
