When ethnic Germans were being “resettled” into Germany at the end of WWII they were required to complete extensive documentation concerning many aspects of their lives. One of my distant relatives (Georg Berger born in Steinfeld, Odessa, Russia) apparently was in the German Army. The attachment shows a section from the EWZ documents of his wife.
This is what I think it says in the German, “Ehemann: b.d. Waffen SS stammmühlenlager über Badeb orn Ersatz Ausbildung Battalion 5 nicht geschl.” Can anyone further enlighten me? Can you tell anything about his rank or organization from the attachment? Is there a website that might give more details about individuals from Ukraine/Russian who were in German army units?
