Hi Everyone,
I am also looking for my father who was a Korean War veteran presumably. Since I do not have his exact surname what I have done is to try to narrow down the geographic area where my Mother was located in 1953-54, in her case it would be very close to Naval Bases Ventura County California.
Then I will be researching all the Navy MUSTER ROLLS from those bases as well as any other bases that were reasonably close.
My understanding is that MUSTER ROLLS are a fairly accurate indicator of the location of all personnel, their availibility is still piecemeal, many apparently are only available at NARA and not online.
Anyway, in the absence of a hard surname evidence I would give this a try...Just try to figure out where the sailor would have likely been located since that will determine which rolls you have to look for. Best Wishes,
