CORONAN GETS MÉDAl FOR WOUNDS IN KOREA
The Purple Heart was awarded for wounds received
in Korean action is conferred on Sgt. Leonard L. Helton of Corona, by
Colonel Charles Kirkpatrick, Tokyo Army Hospital commander, at a ceremony in Japan. Army Nurse (Capt.) Virginia Leftwich, looks on.
A patient at the hospital, Sergeant Helton served as a section leader with the 7th infantry Division's 17th Regiment while in Korea and was awarded the UN and Korean Service Ribbon.
The former Corona Citrus Association employee entered the Army in August, 1949, and arrived overseas last December.
His mother, Mrs. Ophelia Bramble.
