Merchant Marines were not considered "Veterans" of WWII until January 18, 1988. Go the this website for more inforamtion and help. http://www.usmm.org/ Mercahnt Marines were and are employed by shipping companies and or belong to Mariner's Unions.
I found a WWII Draft Registration Card (Old Men's Registration) for a Russel Frederick McIntosh age 48 b. March 5th 1894 in Medimonte(?), Idaho. Living 167 Sands St. Brooklyn, Kings Co. NY Employers name: Oceanic Service Corp 126 Beaver St. NYC, NY name and address of person who will also know your address: Mr. McKenna 152 Beard St. Brooklyn, NY. No phone #. Filed April 27, 1942 in Kings Co. NY.
Found in the 1930 Census of Merchant Seaman, Serving aboard the U.S.S. Ontario, berthed at Pier #3, Pratt St. Baltimore, Maryland on April 1st 1930. Owner of vessel: Merchant and Miners Transprtation Co. Crewman Russel McIntosh age 20 born in California, single, wireless operator, wife or next of kin living in Mt. Zion, IA

What is approx age of Floyd Weber, can't find anything on him. There is a Joseph F. Weber b. 1907 in IA kin in CA based in NY, Richmond Co. NY and a John F. Weber b. 1894 in CA kin in CA also based in NY,Richmond, NY. There are 21 other Weber crewmen of various ships just none with name Floyd or initial F.
