Hello: This is the third posting I am making today re. my connection to Fierros from Old Mexico.
One posting was to a cousin whose grandmother (Cora) was married to my Tio Fierro (Ignacio-Joe). Tio Fierro lived in Yuba City, California for many years.Tio Fierro was brother to my grandmother, Naricssa Fierro Castanon. My mother is Eleanor Fierro Castanon Azevedo. She and her sister Theresa Fierro Castanon Mauturio are the only surviving children of Narcissa and our grandfather, Bartolo Castanon.
My second posting today was to another cousin who is the grand-daughter of my mother's sister, Cuca Fierro Perez Jimenez. Tia Cuca was born to our grandmother, Narcissa, and a Mr. Perez in Mexico. Following that Narcissa came to the US with our Tio Fierro and met Bartolo Castanon and had a group of daughters, including my mother, and Tia Frances, Tia Mary, Tia Theresa, and Tia Bartola.
As you can see, this family tree is huge and distant. You and I may very well also be distant cousins.
I have a family website in which I am trying to sort out this history and post it to my mother and my father. A BIG job. Unfortunately, there are very few photos is existence to document this history.
Anyway, this is a start, and I am still not sure that we are related, but one never knows. The only way is to "interview" are elders and connect the dots.
Sincerely,
Barbara Azevedo
