My ancestor, Robert W. James (Wilmington, N.C. 1811-1882 Biloxi, Miss.) was the civilian master of the U.S. Army transport 'Gen. Hamer', out of New Orleans in the Mexican War. Seek orginal name, and subsequent name, and fate of the 'Gen. Hamer'?
