Classification: Birth
From GRO Indices to Registers of Overseas Births at findmypast.com

GRO Ionian Military Registration Births [1818-1864]

Crowe, Benjamin Thomas; Cephalonia; 3; 14. [no titles could be vol? page?]

Crowe, John William; Corfu; 1: 41

You can use the references to order either or both certificates [online] from the Overseas Section GRO Southport Lanc’s [ see http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ ]

Don't expect the same level of detail as in Civil birth certificates but it will confirm the regiment he was serving with.

Would be better to wait to get mother’s maiden name from birth certificate before looking for marriage [soldier's name doesn't always appear in index]–
