The 11th Regiment of Foot were in the Peninsula War in 1809 and were in Ireland in 1809, 1814, 1821, 1835 and 1843. About 1/3 to 1/4 of the men were Irish. The regiment did not have to be stationed in Ireland to receive Irish recruits.
