ADMIN - Please use correct Classifications

Classification: Query
Please be sure to change the classification to one that matches the content of the post. This will help make board searches more successful.

If you've ever looked for a will, birth, death, or military information about your ancestor on the message boards, you already know how important it is for posters to use the correct Classification.

Click on the arrow next to Classification: Query and you'll see that there are many classifications available. If posting a question or a request, use the default Classification, which is "query."

If you are responding to a post with information, or if you are being a genealogy angel and posting data or information that might help someone, it's very likely that "query" is not the correct Classification to use.

If your post contains military data or details, the classification is Military. For census data or details, the Classification should be Census. If a birth or baptism, then Birth. Monumental inscriptions are classified as
Cemetery and death details are Death.

If you post a variety of information, such as a birth, marriage, and census data, all in the same post, then Biography is the Classification to use.

Using the correct Classification will help anyone searching for a particular type of information find those posts. It will also help the unpaid volunteer board administrators, who are obligated to change Classifications to the correct ones.

Thank you for your cooperation. Happy researching!
