Thanks for your help gives me a couple of options.
I know that my G Grandfather was in the Army in 1891 as that is the year that my Grandfater was born and that is what is stated on the birth cert. Iknow for sure that in 1892 he was still in the Army as I have a copy of the next childs birth cert in. I also know that he didn't die during service. On the 1901 census he is no longer in the army so that does eliminate a couple of things. AI had come to the same conclusion that John Burbidge shown on the 1891 in Barracks in Wiltshire is probably his father. Having got that birth cert it really hasn't helped a lot, shows no father. Anyway thanks again you have a wealth of knowledge on the military, you have helped me once before with Charles Burbidge. The Burbidge family seems to be full of brick walls but I seem to have to keep trying to sort it out!!
