Dear Jeff,
Thanks very much for the information--I am new to research in this area of the world and really had no idea where records might be located. I have such sketchy information that I hope this James is my James (and he's never come up through Family Search before, so I don't know what I've done wrong, and am grateful to you). The only place that his DOB exists is on the death certificate--I have no reason to believe it's correct or not correct, it's the only information I have. Would you suggest a search through the British Library records? Or, the FIB? The India Family link gave a message that the documents were removed. Does Courey seem like an Indian/native name to you? Family stories say that James' father was Irish--could there be special units of the military in India which were Irish? Can you recommend any sources of information for me to get educated? I am so very grateful for your assistance and direction--
Karen
