Find attached a picture of my GGGrandfather, Friederick Ahrndt in uniform. He was born in 1817 and although his hair looks gray in this copy, it is black on the photo. I assume the silver in the photo bleeds. Anyway, I'm guessing this was taken between 1835-1850. I checked "Ask the Experts and they felt it was a Prussian Uniform of the period. Census records for him show he came from Mecklenburg. Anybody know if this is Prussian or Mecklenburg Army Uniform and what rank? The headgear on his lap reminds me of the Tower Guards in London. There appears to be a figure of a man on the chest strap also.
