Further to my last.

The process of printing a photographic image on tin was invented in the USA in 1856 and was introduced into the UK from the 1870’s but were much smaller than in the US. See http://www.edinphoto.org.uk/1_early/1_early_photography_-_pr... for more details.

Personally I’m of the opinion the uniforms and sash look more American style and typical of many town, church or other organisations’ fife and drum bands, I recall seeing a photograph showing similar style uniforms on a web site showing historical pictures of Woodsmen of American organisation; each branch had their own uniform variation.

Try and identify the various insignia on the sash and cap badge, it should help.
