She was born Alice E. WOODROME in 1811 in TN. Parents were John WOODROME b. 1788 in KY, and Jemima EDWARDS b. 1781 in SC. They were married in 1810 in AR territory.

Alice married Alfred GOCHER (GOATCHER) in Perry Co., IL on 11 Nov 1832. At least two sons in AR -- William J. GOATCHER b. 1834 and Nicholas E. GOATCHER b. 1834-35.

Nicholas married Lydia Ann HARDIN in 1856 Lawrence Co., AR. One child Melinda Minerva GOATCHER, b. 1858. Lydia died 1859, Nicholas died shortly thereafter, possibly in the war effort.

Melinda was raised by Alice, her grandmother. Melinda's granddaughter was Ruby Avis (SMITH) DUCKWORTH, my maternal grandmother, and daughter of Alfred Mayberry SMITH and Thalia KEEL.

Alice SEXTON married Bazil SEXTON in 1841 in Lawrence Co., AR. She was well known in the Lawrence and Fulton County, AR areas as a traveling physician, and is listed as such on the 1860 Fulton Co., AR census.
