It is good to hear from a fellow descendant of the 13th Alabama. As you may know E. T. Griffith was in Company F of the 13th AL the "Tallassee Guards." Here is the information I have on him in my roster of the 13th AL:
Griffith, Edward [or Edmund] Terrell, Private, age 18, single, from Tallassee, born in Alabama,{different information on place of birth below} enlisted 30 Sept 1862 in Montgomery. He was severely wounded at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863 and captured in the retreat from Gettysburg. He was treated at Hammond U. S. General Hospital where his left arm was amputated. He was exchanged on 7 May 1864. At the 1907 Confederate census he was living in Tallassee and stated he was born in Meriwether Co., GA in 1844. He applied for a Confederate pension, residence listed as Channatchee (Red Hill). He was buried at Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery in Red Hill (date of death unknown).
Do you have additional information on Pvt. Griffith--marriage, family, date of death? Do you have a photograph of him by any chance?
I have done plenty of research on the 13th AL for a book I hope to have published. I don't have any knowledge of the 47th AL, but I noticed Alan Pitts replied to your query and he is very knowledgeable on Alabama units in the Civil War.
