Re: 1st Iowa Cavalry - Custer in Texas
Charlie -
I am Tilghman Bereman's great, great grandson, and Robert K. Bereman, whom you had some correspondence with a few years back, is my father (he recently gave me a copy of your book, Love and Valor).
I recently started transcribing some of Thomas Bereman's personal journal from his time in "Bloody Kansas" beginning in 1856. While it's rather long (several hundred pages), I hope to finish it within a few months and would be happy to share with you.
In the meantime, there are several other individuals who accompanied Thomas on this trip who I've been unable to track down, including:
T.H. Stanton
O.P. Howe
P.M. Howe
Alpheus Palmer
J.S. Everingham
If you have any knowledge of any of these men, please let me know. In the meantime, feel free to e-mail anytime.
Thanks,
Hank Bereman
