James Kingen served with this battalion of soldiers beginning in 1862. After the war, his family is listed in under another man in the census.
My assumption at this point is that James Kingen died as a result of his military service or died before 1870. There is a soldier J Kingen who died in 1863 and is buried in Illinois.
I am not completely sure this is the same soldier but is a possibility. I am looking for more evidence of what happened to James Kingen.
