I am trying to acquire any information on Michael Dwyer, an Australian born Civil War veteran. Anything on his life in Massachusetts or elsewhere, his family, descendants and especially where he is buried. All I have is Michael Dwyer was born in New South Wales, Australia. His residence was in Malden Massachusetts, where as a 21 year-old Farmer, he enlisted as a Private at Worcester, Massachusetts on 3/3/1864. He was described at enlistment as being 5' 11", with light complexion, blue eyes and red hair. He mustered into "I" Co. Massachusetts 57th Infantry on 3/10/1864; was wounded at Petersburg, Virginia on 7/12/1864 and Returned to duty on 4/15/1865 and mustered out at Delaney House, Washington, D.C. on 7/30/1865. After the War Dwyer lived in Hill City, Pennington Co., South Dakota. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. I want to add him to the Memorial Website www.acwv.info.
