I am searching for any information on the families of Gustav Kast and John Ruehle who served in The Michigan 2nd Infantry -Company A , where Gustav served as Second Lieutenant and John served as 1st Lieutenant. John & Gustav were related by marriage - Gustav Kast was married to Caroline Ruehle who was a 1st Cousin to John V. Ruehle, Jr.. The father of John Ruehle, Jr ( and Uncle by marriage of Gustav Kast) also served in the Michigan Infantry -- and is listed as unassigned. There is also a Martin Ruehle who served in the 2nd Infantry - Company H. and a George Ruehle who served in the Mi Infantry - Company K. They may be relatives- but I have not yet found a connection.
Gustav then served as Captain in the the MI 16th Infantry - Company K. John Ruehle served later in the MI 16th Infantry., Company F as a Lieutenant Colonel.
We have found a photo of Harvey John Brown - his daughter married the son of Gustav Kast -- Gustavus Kast. He is in what appears to be a Scouts (Civil War) Uniform With Binoculars - he also ties into this family by his daughters marriage. We have been unable to locate any service records for Harvey?? He may not have enlisted in Michigan?? It seems they all may have known each other during the Civil War.
I have a photo of Gustav in uniform -but would like a photo of the John Ruehles if any has one or knows where I might look. I would like to connect with any of the above mentioned family members and share info.
Thanks!! J. Warren
