John Thompson - Civil War Veteran

I am trying to acquire any information available on John Thompson an Australian born Civil War veteran; relating to his life, family, descendants and especially where he is buried. All I have is that John Thompson was born in Australia. His residence was not listed, but he enlisted as a 29 year old Private on 7/1/1864, mustered as a substitute into the Unassigned New Hampshire 11th Infantry and sent to the regiment on 7/6/1864. There was no further record. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated as I want to add him to the Memorial Website www.acwv.info.
