I am trying to acquire any information available on James Williams an Australian born Civil War veteran; relating to his life, family, descendants and especially where he is buried. All I have is that James Williams was born in Australia and his residence was listed as Australia. At 21 years of age he enlisted as a Private on 10/6/1863 and mustered into "A" Co. New Hampshire 7th Infantry. He was listed as a prisoner of war at Olustee, Florida on 2/20/1864, but escaped, being returned on 5/10/1865. He was eventually mustered out, at Olustee, Florida, on 7/20/1865. There was no further record. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated as I want to add him to the Memorial Website www.acwv.info.
