4th. Florida infantry Co.F. 1862

These man enlisted on July 16, 1861 and were in the Florida 4th. infantry Company F. all were privates, under Captain James P. Hunt. They were on board a ferry-boat that was captured on or about Jan. 10. 1862, on it’s way from the railroad depot at Depot Key. These men all had the measles and were so much debilitated that they might not survive the severe, because of this they were giving parole after taking the oath of allegiance on or about Feb. 16, 1862, at Cedar Keys, Florida.

John R. M. Carleton, The reports to the Secretary of the navy this is the name, and in the National Park service it the same, however on the company roster they have it as Joseph R. M. Carlton?
