Hi! My name is Laurie, and I have been working on a cemetery transcription project here in my town of Walpole MA. We know of a Civil War soldier who is buried here, but does not have a headstone. Could some one look up this gents service record, so we can begin the process of getting him a headstone thru the VA?
His name is George Nichols Gibson. He was born Sept 1840 (according to 1900 census)or 1841 (according to his death cert.) He was born in NYC. I'm not sure when he moved to Boston, but his son was born here in 1876, and I can find him in the 1880 census. Sometimes he uses his middle initial. His parents were Peter Gibson from Scotland, and Elizabeth (or Eliza) Nichols of England. He married #1 Catherine Delaney, and #2 Mary Hackett. Mary lived in the area until the 1920's when she relocated to Milton, NH
Thanks so much!
