Thank you for your reply. After submitting all the Military Records, I was told that it was not sufficient proof. I then went back to the National Archives and found the Quartermaster Generals Report and copied the page and faxed that to Salisbury National. Their response was-- they have proven that the report is very unreliable and full of errors!!! (I would have to find the rejection letter to quote them exactly) At the time, and still now, I don't know what the next step should be.

It's funny that you responded to my message yesterday. I had to put it down for awhile, and just started thinking about it all in the last week....maybe it's because Memorial Day is coming up. He still has no stone, anywhere, although I have permission to place one in PA w/ his brother. But, I'm not giving up yet!!!

A couple days ago I decided to go down to Salisbury National Cemetery for Memorial Day. I believe there are NO "In Memory" stones at the cemetery for the men that were thrown in the trenches. I suspect that everyone that tries to have a stone placed there is given that same treatment that I received--"prove he's here". I guess I'll see for myself in a few weeks. Any suggestions? Liz
