Tilman Columbus Ragan who lived in St James Missouri is in the veterans cemetary in St James. His death certificate lists death as TB (Consumption. When his wife Hester applied for death benefits the army turned her down because she spelled the name Reagan. A local minister re-submitted the request and indicated she we uneducated and did not spell the name correct. He then submitted it as Ragan. Tilmans enlistment contract is typed and signed with an X so the spelling was done by the army clerk.
