Muster Roll Terminology

Hi everybody,
I just recently received my civil war ancestor's compiled military record from the NARA. It contains his roll cards from his time in the civil war and I'm confused with some of the terminology. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a book or a website that might be able to help me out with the terms used.

Also, it says on one of the cards, "nurse in helena, arkansas" and I'm wondering if these means he was a nurse or if he was BEING nursed. Is there any way I could figure this out?

Thanks!
