Classification: Query
Surnames: Venable
I do not have a lot of info but I hope this little bit well help.

John W. Venable , was a Sergeant in Searcy’s Battalion of Sharp shooters company C.
I could not find any info on him in this unit. He later was in the third regiment Mo., infantry as a fourth Corporal. There was no enlistment dates or anything. However this was written at the bottom of his card.

“ Bevier “ 1879 Appendix page ( could not read the number. )
List of survivors of 1st. And 2nd. Brigade with present residence and occupation.

From another index I found he was born in 1835, Missouri, wife was Minerva ( Cox ) Venable. Father was John Venable and Mother Sarah G ( ? ) Venable.

I would write the Missouri State Historical Society, they have all the info there they should be on the web. Just to let you know there were 3hundred Venable’s in the Civil War and 64 were from Missouri. So if you have any other family members to look for let me know.
