Jeanette,
What you are looking for is a copy of Corporal Clark's Compiled Military Service Records (CMSR). They may be obtained either through the National Archives by submission of a form NATF 80, or (and probably faster) through the Mississippi Dept. of Archives and History in Jackson, MS. The Miss. Archives will check the microfilm rolls and let you know how many pages (and the cost) of copying his records. Then, once you submit payment, they will make copies and mail them to you.
Since I've been researching the 2nd Miss. for about 8-yrs now, I have a microfilm copy of all the members' CMSRs. Unfortunately, I can't print copies from them. However, this is what my database summary says about Archibald Clark: He enlisted in Company H, the Coonewah Rifles of Pontotoc County on April 29, 1861 as a 3rd Corporal. Captain Taylor was the enrolling officer. His age was given as 44; his occupation "farmer;" his state of birth was South Carolina; he was married; and his residence (nearest Post Office) was Chesterville, MS. His company muster record summary reads: "Mortally wounded at 1st Manassas on 7/21/1861. Died on 7/23/1861." Corporal Clark is mentioned in newspaper accounts of the battle given by Captain Hugh Miller and Lieutenant Fontaine of Company G.
I have a written "summary" history of the 2nd Mississippi in Microsoft Word format. If you are interested in a copy, please let me know. Hope I've been of some help.
