C. Streber is listed on the roster of Hobby's Eighth Infantry Regiment - Company G - Captain Edwin E. Hobby (brother of Major Alfred M. Hobby) field officer. Edwin Hobby's son, William P. Hobby served as the twenty-sixth governor of Texas (1917-1921) and grandson William P. Hobby served as Lieutenant Governor (1973-1991). Company G was originally called Company D until the merge with Shea's Fourth Artillery Battalion. It was involved at the Battle of Corpus Christi August 12, 1862. From December 1863 through the end of the war the company was stationed at or near Galveston to guard the port from Union naval invasion attempts. Hope this helps.
