William Tune-Civil War Vet-IS HE MY G.G.GRANDFATHER?

I am researching my g.g.grandfather William P. Tune. I have an article from the "Columbia Herald" newspaper dated Friday, October 8, 1869 which describes an incident between Tune and a Captain Fletcher Barnes. The article goes on to state that "he(Tune) is a short, heavy set man, with a courage that knows no fear. He is said to have been a brave soldier of the 3rd Tennessee, Col. WADE'S old company, and when he was shot through and through at Chicamauga, he remarked in the midst of the terrible carnage of that dreadful battle, "Boys, I'm disgraced forever--I'm shot in the back!"

The only William Tune I've been able to find who served in this unit was a William T. Tune who was present at Chickamauga. He was with the Company C(later D) under a Captain Daniel F. Wade. Also in that unit was a Sergeant C. Fletcher Barnes. This info came from the book, "From the Flame of Battle to the Fiery Cross" by James Van Eldik.

As many of our ancestors had several given names and initials, I would like to think this Wm. T. might be my Wm. P. I received copies from NARA of Wm. T's service records which match those found in the book by Mr. Van Eldik.

Oral history from my Tune family recalls that our William Tune died from a gunshot wound which either became infected or gangrenous. It was thought to be shameful that he died from an argument which led to his being shot.

With the documentation I have and our family's oral history of this ancestor, do you have any suggestions as how to validate the fact that Wm. T. Tune might be my William P. Tune? I would appreciated any suggestions you might have.
