ROLL CALL
My ancestor was Benjamin Franklin ALLEIN (1827-1898) who was a Private in the 3rd Regiment Louisiana Infantry, Company H. He appears on a Roll of Prisoners of War of furloughed and detailed men, Confederate States Army, commanded by (blank), surrendered at New Orleans, LA, by General EKK. Smith, C.S.A., to Maj.Gen. E.R.S. Canby, U.S.A., May 26, 1865, and paroled at Shreveport, LA, June 7, 1865. Roll dated Shreveport, LA June 7, 1865. (this is the record I obtained from NARA.)
Benjamin F. Allein was from Church Hill, Jefferson County, Mississippi and moved to Madison Parish, Louisiana prior to the war. After the war, he returned to Church Hill where he lived out his life and where he is buried in the Christ Episcopal Church graveyard at Church Hill.
